New Movers Heat Up in the Summer

The heat is on! And summer is my favorite time of the year. Not only because my entire families’ birthdays fall in between Memorial Day and Labor Day, but mostly because it gives us a little more time to spend together and recharge before the craziness of the school year.

Summertime is also a busy moving season and as a healthcare marketer, it’s important to capture summer new movers. Getting your messaging out in front of new movers can make you their first choice for their families’ healthcare. If you aren’t connecting with them, your competitors may be. Make sure you get there first. Here are three reasons why:

  1. Summer Quantities Increase: In many markets across the country, especially in the south and west, new mover counts can increase by 20-30% in the months of June – August, sometimes even through October for those new movers who fail to submit a change of address right away.
  2. More families with children move during the summer.
    • People with children enjoy the flexibility of summer for their move, if they are able to choose their move date. The summer months provide less hassle or conflicts with school and school-related activities.
    • Comparative to a single person that rents a place down the street, summer families are probably going to stay put for a while. The average family resides in a house for at least 5 years.
    • New summer residents are on a time schedule. They only have so long to get into a routine before school starts and crazy life resumes, so catching them now is very beneficial.
  3. For you, your marketing team and your organization, ROI is always top of mind. New mover ROI during the summer months heats up and gives you great results to deliver to your C-suite.

This is the opportune time to promote your services, differentiate your organization from the rest and keep your community healthy. Messages that work are same-day appointments, extended hours, urgent and primary care access.
